Natural climate


 

 

Guilin is located in the southwestern part of the Nanling Mountain Range, in the northeastern part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It has a humid subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by mild weather, abundant rainfall, beautiful mountains and rivers, and charming scenery. It is known for the sayings "Guilin's landscape is the best under heaven" and "Little snow in winter, flowers in all seasons."

 

The average annual temperature in Guilin is around 19 degrees Celsius, which is relatively mild, with a frost-free period lasting over 300 days. The hottest weather occurs in July and August, with an average monthly temperature of about 28°C, and the extreme maximum temperature does not exceed 39°C, which is not too hot. The coldest weather occurs in January and February, with an average temperature of 8-9°C and an average minimum temperature not lower than 5°C, so it is not considered too cold; however, there have been instances of severe cold weather with temperatures dropping to -3 to -4°C. Guilin occasionally experiences light snow, but it does not last long. The rainfall in Guilin is abundant, with an average annual precipitation of 1900-2000 millimeters, and the rainiest season is from April to July, accounting for 40% of the annual rainfall.
