The "Asia Pacific Tea Awards" is an international evaluation event jointly organized and judged by tea management agencies and industry associations of major tea producing and selling countries around the world. More than a thousand kinds of tea from home and abroad have participated in the selection. The event has won a good reputation in major tea producing and consuming countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

On June 11 and 18, the sensory evaluation of the 7th Asia-Pacific Tea Grand Prix, which tea lovers from all walks of life have been looking forward to for a long time, was held at the Quality Standards Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Beijing.
This Asia-Pacific Tea Grand Prix was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the China (Beijing) International Tea Industry and Tea Art Expo, and co-hosted by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in China, the Embassy of Nepal in China, the Sri Lanka Tea Board, the Tea Research Institute of the Kenya Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Research Institute, the European Specialty Tea Association, the Malaysian Tea Chamber of Commerce, the Vietnam Tea Association, the Australian Tea Association, the Korean Tea Academy, and the Turkish Tea Market Federation.

A total of 526 tea samples were received for this competition. After initial screening, a total of 378 tea samples including green tea, black tea, yellow tea, white tea, oolong tea, dark tea, substitute tea, and processed tea entered the expert sensory evaluation stage. Experts evaluate the quality of tea based on its appearance, tea soup color, aroma, taste and leaf bottom.
The judges of this competition are: Sun Danwei, the inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage jasmine, a national first-class tea appraiser, a senior tea processing technician, and the former general manager of Wu Yutai Tea Co., Ltd. First-class tea processor, national intangible cultural heritage inheritor, national tea evaluation expert, member of the National Tea Standards Committee, former chairman of Beijing Zhang Yiyuan Tea Co., Ltd. Wang Xiulan, national first-class tea appraiser, senior tea refiner Technician, tea artist and senior technician Shen Hong, three industry leaders conducted a secret evaluation based on GBT23776-2018 "Tea Sensory Evaluation Method".





The evaluation is divided into two stages: dry evaluation and wet evaluation. Three evaluation experts will identify the appearance, soup color, aroma, taste and other indicators of the tea samples. During the entire evaluation process, the internationally accepted evaluation method is used to conduct group code evaluation of the participating tea samples to ensure the fairness of the competition.
